XV Festival Internacional de Cine Documental
Synopsis
The journey as a path to self-discovery, but also doubt as the master key that holds up a mirror in which we can be reflected. A couple, a daughter, a filmmaker and reflection: that moment of calm when everything seems to waver. This film reveals a distorted conception of time, full of twists and turns and backward loops, much like those overlapping images that lie at the very heart of the film. That the title includes the word ‘miracle’ is no coincidence: here, it speaks of opening one’s eyes again. (LEP)
Director biography
David Varela
David Varela is a self-taught filmmaker, teacher, distributor and programmer. To date, he has produced and directed three feature films and a number of short and medium-length documentaries. His films have been screened and won awards at international festivals and art centres such as the Reina Sofía Museum (Madrid), the MUSAC (León), Filmoteca Española film archive (Madrid), the San Sebastián Film Festival, the Gijón International Film Festival, Documenta Madrid, the Málaga Film Festival, ZINEBI, the Edinburgh International Film Festival, the Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival and the Cali International Film Festival.
He has designed film series, retrospectives and programmes for the DOCMA Documentary Film Association, and has programmed screenings at institutions such as the Reina Sofía National Art Museum and the Filmoteca Española film archive. He served as artistic co-director of the Documenta Madrid International Film Festival from 2017 to 2019.
