She studied screenwriting in Mexico City. Produced with the Jan Vrijman fund in 2008, her debut documentary La cuerda floja won the "Nuevas Miradas" Award at Visions du Réel and was selected at other festivals such as the IDFA, Morelia, Plus Camerimage, Viennale, True/False, Ambulante. La cuerda floja was nominated Best Documentary at the Ariel Awards that year and made its premiere at the National Cinemateque of Mexico in 2011. Her second feature film, El cuarto desnudo (2013) was the most highly award-winning Mexican documentary in 2014 and was chosen by Slant Magazine of New York as one of the 20 best films of 2014. El cuarto desnudo won the awards for Best Film in the Human Rights competition at the 2014 International Buenos Aires Film Festival (BAFICI) and Best Documentary at the 2014 Mar del Plata Film Festival (MARFICI) among several others. It premiered at the National Cinemateque of Mexico in 2014.
