His work as a director alternates between fiction and documentary. Some of his most notable short films include the series of micro-essays Conceptos clave del mundo moderno (1998-99) and the short film diary Límites 1ª persona (2009), which won the Ibero-American Competition “Versión Española” (TVE). His first feature film Mapa (2012) was nominated for the Goya Award for Best Documentary. Apuntes para una película de atracos (2018), was also nominated for a Goya for documentary film and won the Feroz Critics' Award. For television, he directed El caso Asunta (Operación Nenúfar), which won the Best Documentary Series Award at the Shanghai Festival (2018). He is currently finishing up El caso Alcásser which is slated for worldwide release on Netflix over the course of 2019.
