The Darién Gap is a rainforest between Panama and Colombia that links South America with Central America. For many migrants, this is where their journey to the United States begins. At least, that’s how they describe it in the videos they post on social media, which we can see here. Lucia Espinoza Hoempler turns us into witnesses of that migration, while at the same time highlighting our usual detachment as spectators. Far from media sensationalism, the spontaneity of the testimonies generates an unsettling political estrangement. (PC)
