A MITAD ADEL MAR
Synopsis

While local stigma tries to reduce the identity of a handful of young people to the insult “panchito,” they respond by dismantling the logic of prejudice: a pancho is a revolutionary in Mexico, a hot dog in Paraguay, or the romantic cadence of a bolero; it is anything but the label imposed on them.

A mitad del mar is a collective work by the Latin-Madrilenian Cine-Ojo, filmed on the back steps of the Cineteca in the Legazpi neighborhood. A staircase that now becomes an improvised pier — a place to pause and rhyme with the migratory birds of the Manzanares River. A short film that deconstructs racism through the poetics of chaos.

Behind the lens is a film crew made up of teenagers and young people creating collectively from the margins. An artistic and therapeutic project for young people in situations of particular vulnerability, directed by Pedro Sara and Violeta Pagán.
