Exilio y ajenidad

During the years of the Popular Unity government, three young filmmakers went to the offices of Chile Films to present a film project. They were Marilú Mallet, Valeria Sarmiento and Angelina Vázquez. This session comprises three films that capture the filmmakers’ experiences of exile. In Two Years in Finland, Angelina Vázquez portrays the social and labour conditions of Chilean refugees in the Nordic country. The fiction film Lentement, directed by Marilú Mallet, follows a young Chilean exile through the spaces of Montreal, imbued with nostalgia and political anger. In Huellas, Valeria Sarmiento returns to Chile to explore the memory of the violence perpetrated by Pinochet’s military dictatorship. (PC)
