In the style of a coming-of-age novel, The Prince of Nanawa recounts Ángel’s adventures, from his childhood to adulthood, in a small village on the border between Argentina and Paraguay. His psychological, moral and social development is portrayed by the Argentine filmmaker, Clarisa Navas, through numerous journeys undertaken over a ten-year period. During this time, Ángel gradually integrates into the world and, like a Lolita revisited, is consumed by his life experiences and circumstances. Without sugar-coating or passing judgement, the film explores the complex process of forming an adult identity. (NC)
