Synopsis

In After the Cities, the city of Santiago de Compostela is never presented as a stable place, but rather it emerges as an overlay of mediated perspectives: traversed by distortions and depicted through virtual tours or anonymous photographs that blur and displace it. Against this distance created by the image, words break in physically, read in the present yet drawn from postcards written from and to Santiago in times gone by, which imbue the urban landscape with an intimate and tangible density that truly brings it to life. The city thus emerges not as a physical entity, but as a mechanism of memory where diverse temporalities converge. (IC)
