De las Aulas al Cine

This year at DocumentaMadrid, and in collaboration with the Rebvelados program at the Cineteca Madrid, we would like to continue our fruitful collaboration with schools started two years ago that provides students a place to reflect and enjoy non-fiction cinema. We will hold morning sessions designed to bring documentary film to children and teenagers. The activity will entail screening films included in the different sections of the festival, in which talks and discussions will be held with directors, film curators and experts in audiovisual literacy, thus fostering debate among young people over how human, ethical and cultural values are transmitted through the art of filmmaking. The scheduled films will address historical, social and present-day issues and will trigger open dialogues with the students so that they can, in turn, discover new ways of approaching cinema. We hope to make cinema a means of learning, knowledge and communicating ideas, as well as a unique tool for spurring critical discourse on the risks and advantages of being part of a society that is becoming ever more defined by images. In short, to experience the audiovisual world with awareness and creativity by learning about its foundations and enjoying its uniqueness.
