Two artists, Queralt and Gemma, live in distant cities: Barcelona and Athens. One is the mother, the other the daughter, who is also a new mother. One calls the other, but there is no answer. While the film studies this distance, it sheds light on their surroundings: the daily work on the paintings, the light in their spaces, reading by the window. Based on the paintings by Roser Agell and Paulina Muxart Agell, Ella i Jo is a study in the textures, bodies and colors that make up the universe of two women whose separation also leads to some rough spots, like a News From Home over the phone and in pictures. Shot during his stay at the Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola. (LS)
