Synopsis
A group of film school students take on a gargantuan task: to research the archives of a film festival with a decades-long history. "Which years are ours" asks one of them, as she looks at the mountains of boxes filled with documentation. This question resonates throughout the film, and expands beyond it: the students' youthfulness, their drive for cinema and life itself, their willingness to film and understand the present and the past are all revealed in a film that captures, more than anything else, moments of beauty. The beauty of those who joyfully look to the past in order to understand their present, and their future. (GDP)
Director biography
Clara Rus
CLARA RUS (Uclés, 1995) is a filmmaker and colourist. She graduated from ESCAC
(Escola de Cinema i Audiovisuals de Catalunya) with a degree in Cinematography and
continued her studies as part of the inaugural cohort of the Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola (San
Sebastián/Donostia) with a Master’s in Film and Audio-visual Curation and joined the
research group ‘Zinemaldia 70: all possible histories’ in collaboration with the San Sebastián
Film Festival which formed the basis for her first short film as director, ¿Cuáles son nuestros
años?. She was the director of photography for the short film No me despertéis, by Sara Fantova (San Sebastián, Rotterdam, Seminci and Alcine) and Te busco en todos, by Celia Giraldo (D'A, Seminci), among others, as well as assistant directing the collective feature La filla
d'algú and Nacho no conduce, both awarded at the Málaga Festival. In 2020 she was selected for the Noka Mentoring initiative jointly organised by the Basque Government and Tabakalera where she is developing a further project, Las Tablas.
