One more year, inside the classrooms that second-year Documentary Film students occupy this year at ECAM, the excitement of programming a filmmaker whose work moves us while motivates us is born. Discovering Morgan Quaintance reveals a restless author in both his creative ideas and the way he composes his low-budget films with a powerful emotional charge, attributes in which as emerging filmmakers we can find ourselves reflected. Morgan Quaintance's universe speaks to his memories, many of them concentrated in his personal archive. In his pieces, we find an artist who constantly experiments with form, without disconnecting from the political context and the love for music and sound.
During two sessions and a masterclass, our retrospective of Morgan Quaintance, titled Sampling Echoes, will delve into the abilities of the Londoner to make use of fragments of elements from different origins and formats to assemble films that develop a sense of improvisation and rhythmic intuition, offering us an infinity of horizons in the creation of an intimate and, therefore, universal story. The rhythm of Morgan Quaintance and its echoes friction towards a common place: the cultural skylight that nourishes us.
