He has been the Director of the Cinémathèque Suisse since 2009 and was President of the FIAF (International Federation of Film Archives) from 2017 to 2023. In addition to directing several short and medium-length fiction films and documentaries, he has also worked as a journalist for several Swiss newspapers, magazines and radio programs, mainly in the areas of film and culture. In 1992, he was one of the four founders of the children's film club La Linterna Mágica, which he co-directed until 2005. Having worked for the Locarno International Film Festival as a press officer and programmer since 1986, in 2005 he was appointed its artistic director, which he led until 2009.
