Between 1950 and 1980, millions of people of all ages took part in the so-called Spartakiades, which were organised in Prague by communist Czechoslovakia to show the benefits of the regime through the traditional ideal of gymnastics and sports. In a work with a strong musical presence, Hana Vojáčková mixes imposing excerpts of propaganda and found footage related to the event. The result explores how, behind that celebratory character of mass participation, highlighted in the title, We Love Life, there were countless human nuances relating to what it means to live under an authoritarian regime.
