Documenta Madrid, international meeting point for creators, professionals and the audience, celebrates its annual event this spring. In its 19th edition, the International Film Festival of the Madrid City Council, organized by the Department of Culture, Tourism and Sport of the Madrid City Council, kicks off this year on May 24 in on-site and online format, with on-site screenings closing on May 29, and extending until June 5 in its online version.

For yet another year, the festival lands in Madrid to showcase the best cinema from around the world, focusing on contemporary cinema and with a special interest in new aesthetic bets, films inspired by the diverse forms of non-fiction, and that explore audiovisual forms regardless of their definition, duration, genre or category.

In line with the changes incorporated in recent editions of the festival, the 19th edition of Documenta Madrid will further defend a cinema without labels. All films, long or short, documentaries, essays, hybrids or experimental, compete on equal terms, with a single differentiation between national and international productions.
