Félix, Baltasar and Evaristo Guallar were born in the mountain village of Escó (Zaragoza). The village was expropriated in 1959 for the construction of a dam, but their family refused to abandon it. Today, these three shepherd brothers are its only inhabitants. When Escó faces its definitive extinction due to the construction of a motorway to the Pyrenees, Alba Bresolí sensitively approaches the daily life of these three elderly brothers living in a rural twilight. As well as understanding their motivations, El día que volaron la montaña offers several memorable snapshots of this world that is on the verge of disappearing. (SdB)
