PhD in Spanish Literature, she has published the books Buñuel, lector de Galdós (Pérez Galdós Research Award 2003) and 34 actores hablan de su oficio, a sequel to her feature film, Hécuba, un sueño de pasión, nominated for the Goya Award for Best Documentary in 2007. After working as assistant director for Mario Camus, Basilio M. Patino, Almodóvar and Carlos Saura, she has directed internationally-prized documentaries, such as Una americana en París and El esfuerzo y el ánimo, as well as Una mujer de teatro, La gira por China, Una rosa para Soler, El amor y la muerte and Dancing Beethoven, which received a Silver Spike award in the Time of History section at the Valladolid Seminci film festival in 2016 and was nominated for the Goya, Forqué and Platino Awards. Both El esfuerzo y el ánimo and Dancing Beethoven have been released in commercial cinemas in France, Switzerland, Germany and Japan. Her latest feature film, Zurbarán y sus doce hijos, premiered at the Seminci 2020 and won the Miradas Award at the Unpublished Film Festival of Mérida. In 2021, she joined the San Fernando Royal Academy of Fine Arts.
