Synopsis

Maryan Tafakory scours the memory of her country again, a memory that has been outlawed, hidden and buried. But the archival images are there to prove it was not always that way, and remembering itself is also an exercise in dissidence. Amidst so much ruin, Tafakory recalls the utopian dream of filmmaking and getting published in a feminist newspaper as she shows us the fragility of the materials. And yet, she tells us that even if the celluloid should perish, the energy that feeds the images cannot. (LEP)
