Synopsis

Three relatives of the disappeared travel a long and complex road in search of their loved ones’ remains. They must face the same bureaucratic, legal and social processes that have persisted since the Civil War. Atlas de la desaparición reconstructs what forgetting and repression sought to hide. Through digital maps, archives and forensic architecture, the film sheds light on how thousands of disappeared people were moved to the Valley of Cuelgamuros during the Franco dictatorship. In between the absences and silences, the film shows the constant struggle to get to the truth, to give a name and place to those who were torn from the history books. (FDM)
