In Another Other, a fictionalized past and an unfortunately real present intersect through the lucid juxtaposition of images and sounds from two very dissimilar sources. We see Wesley Snipes in the role of Lieutenant Smith in the movie Rising Sun (1993), as he is being questioned over a controversial action, while at the same time we hear Claudine Gay, Harvard University's first African-American president, defending herself against accusations of fomenting anti-Semitism on campus during protests against the Gaza genocide. Bex Oluwatoyin Thompson deciphers the sequence and the sound, their hidden gestures, exposing how the American establishment dictates power relations by twisting dialectics and outlawing any hint of dissent.
