Documenta Madrid postpones its 17th edition until fall

Documenta Madrid, the International Film Festival promoted by the Madrid City Council, announces the postponement of its 17th edition until the fall of 2020. The staff is now working on finding new dates for the festival, which had been scheduled to take place from May 4 to 10.

“The Documenta Madrid team, along with the guest curators, would like to thank our audiences, professionals and non-fiction film fans alike, for their commitment to the festival, especially during these hard times for everyone. We will carry on with our work of putting on the best possible edition in the fall and hope to meet again in the cinemas bristling with Documenta Madrid”, explains Gonzalo de Pedro, artistic director of the Cineteca Madrid, a space that belongs to the Culture, Tourism and Sport area of the Madrid City Council and is managed by Madrid Destino, who is organizing the 17th International Film Festival. 

In the coming weeks, an announcement will be made as to the new dates of the 17th edition of Documenta Madrid, which this year for the first time will have James Lattimer and Cecilia Barrionuevo guest curating a festival that will showcase contemporary and international cinema rooted in the avant-garde and the diverse forms of non-fiction filmmaking.
