Um Filme de Verao, follows a group of teenagers for a summer in Rio de Janeiro. Caio, Karol, Junior and Ronaldo have finished school and spend their days in uncertainty, worried about the future. It's not that they have no dreams or desires, it's just that the socio-economic situation in the neighborhoods on the city outskirts makes it hard and they have to deal with the prospects of a future short on possibilities. Jo Serfaty's debut film is full of intelligence, empathy and sensitivity. With bravery and accuracy, she avoids falling into miserabilism and instead chooses to give space to a more humanistic vision. (CB)
