Synopsis

El tango del viudo y su espejo deformante, is one of Ruiz's orphan works. Like what happened a few years ago with La telenovela Errante, some abandoned, unorganized reels turned up, along with some signs, clues and traps that Valeria Sarmiento, Chamila Rodriguez and Galut Alarcón managed to figure out. The film, which was going to be Ruiz's first, was shot in 1967 in the spirit of the theater of the absurd, and since then, the images have survived but the sound has not. Sarmiento, Ruiz's faithful companion, manages to give a voice and poetic ending to this shamanic film inhabited by ghosts, multiple identities, upside-down images and wandering reflections. (CB)
