A waterfall making a dull noise. A boat invites us to sail to a wooded area; it seems to be looking for something. Woods and Waters renders tribute to the pioneering wildlife photographer from the late 19th century, George Shiras, while also showing the importance of the still picture in photography by means of film resources. Antoine Parouty
He was born in 1977 in Brive, France. In 1995, he co-wrote his first short film Chaud devant shot in 16mm. After finishing a Baccalauréat in Audio-Visual Cinema, he joined the Image Department of the Insas Film School in Brussels. In 1998, he shot the documentary essay A Scar Behind the Head in Mali. That same year, he produced a documentary portrait Back from Cambrai produced by the AJC in Brussels.
In 2004, he directed The Road of the Beehives, a documentary shown at many festivals and broadcast on Arte. In 2010, he directed Des reves pour l'hiver, a medium-length fiction film, awarded at several festivals (Pantin, Belfort, Brive) and broadcast on Arte. His films of pure documentary essence seek to question our memory, to tell of the intimate ties human beings weave between themselves and places.
Antoine Parouty lives in Paris where he is pursuing a career as a director of photography in fiction and documentary film and has worked with many directors and artists including Patric Chiha, Hélier Cisterne, Sébastien Betbeder, Ruth Berkermann, Sophie Letourneur, Christelle Lheureux, Antoine Barraud, Sébastien Lifshitz, Valérie Mrejen and Mehdi Ben Attia.
