His work explores the material politics of representation, with a particular focus on how visual media constructs and circulates environmental imaginaries. His films have been screened at festivals and venues such as Berlinale Forum, the Rotterdam Film Festival, Cinéma du Réel, DOC NYC, the Hong Kong Film Festival, DocLisboa, Visions du Réel, the ICA in London and Documenta Madrid: his film Under A Blue Sun won the Jury Prize for Best Film in the International Competition at our previous edition. He is the author of Occupying Habits (Bloomsbury, 2023), as well as several other essays. His current book project, Hot Locations: Cinema on the Planetary Frontier (forthcoming with UC Press 2026), explores the material politics connecting cinema and hyper-arid lands. Mann is an Assistant Professor in the Film Studies Department at King’s College London.
