Kesuma, a Bagan fisherman, survives on his fishing platform a few kilometers from the volcanic island of Krakatoa. After a hard night of fishing, the exhausted Kesuma spends the day repairing his nets and tending to his platform. With no warning, a gigantic explosion occurs and a tsunami engulfs everything. Kesuma wakes up on a mysterious deserted island. He is now a castaway. While exploring the island, he finds a cave to take refuge in and prepare for the final sacrifice.
Carlos Casas (Barcelona, 1974) is a filmmaker and artist whose practice encompasses film, sound and the visual arts. His films have been screened and awarded in festivals around the world, like the Venice Film Festival, International Film Festival Rotterdam, Buenos Aires International Film Festival, Mexico International Film Festival, FID Marseille, etc... his work has been exhibited and performed in international art institutions and galleries, such as Tate Modern, London, Fondation Cartier, Palais de Tokyo, Centre Pompidou, Paris, Hangar Bicocca, Milan, CCCB Barcelona, GAM Torino, Bozar Bruxelles, among others.
