The future will burst forth in places that do not yet exist is a letter in which filmmaker Gabriel Azorín explains to Juan (and the other team members of the public and community art program Imagina Madrid) the reasons that he and Óscar Vincentelli are unable to make a time capsule to archive the things that have been learned over the course of program. The future will burst forth in places that do not yet exist is making its premiere as part of the Imagina Madrid (2017-2019) program of Intermediae Matadero.
Gabriel Azorín has directed the short films Los galgos, Mañana vendrá la bala and El ruido del universo and the medium-length documentary Los mutantes. His work has been screened at such festivals as San Sebastian, Entrevues de Belfort, Seville, Ficunam, Zinebi, Curtocircuíto and Porto/Post/Doc. He is a member of the lacasinegra collective and combines directing work with other endeavors such as executive production on the feature documentary Una vez fuimos salvajes, by Carmen Bellas (best film at Alcances 2017) and as artistic advisor on the feature films Azor, by Andreas Fontana (Berlinale 2021), <3, by María Antón Cabot (premiered at Dok:Leipzig 2018 and award winner at the Seville Festival) and H, by Carlos Pardo Ros (premiered at Visions du Réel 2022 and award winner at the Seville Festival) as well as the short films La sangre es blanca, by Óscar Vincentelli (award winner at FID Marseille 2021) and Ella i jo, by Jaume Claret Muxart (Rotterdam 2021).
Oscar Vincentelli is a filmmaker and visual artist. His work is a cross between documentary film, fantastic cinema, experimental ethnography and the art of sound and vision. He is currently preparing his feature film Se van sus naves, produced by Lejos Lejos and selected for the FID Lab 2022 and Locarno Residency. His work has been selected to such international festivals as Locarno, San Sebastián, FIDMarseille, Jeonju, FIC Valdivia, Málaga, Mar de Plata, Viennale and D'A. He has been selected for Berlinale Talents and the Residencies of the Spanish Film Academy. With his most recent short film La sangre es blanca, he won first prize at the FID Marseille and the Curtocircuíto Festival.
