FEATURE LENGTH FILMS SECTION 

Films that run for longer than 45 minutes can compete in the following sections and for the following prizes: 

 INTERNATIONAL FEATURE FILM COMPETITION 

International films that have not been released in Spain. 

  • Jury’s Prize, consisting of €10.000 and a trophy. 
  • Special Mention of the Jury (Diploma). 

 FUGAS FEATURE FILM COMPETITION

 International films. This section is open to new aesthetic proposals, experimental and hybrid films, and works that challenge the audiovisual languages and genres. 

  • Jury’s First Prize, consisting of €10.000 and a trophy. 
  • Special Mention of the Jury (Diploma). 

 NATIONAL FEATURE FILM COMPETITION 

Films produced or coproduced in Spain and works by Spanish directors

  • Jury’s Prize, consisting of €10.000 and a trophy.

 Films that run for a maximum of 45 minutes can compete for the following prizes:

AUDIENCE AWARDS 

Both feature-length and short documentaries in competition may also compete for the following prizes, which will be awarded in accordance with the highest score and the number of votes given by the audience after each film´s screening:

  • Best Feature Film’s Cineteca Madrid Audience Award, consisting of 5.000€ and the film premiere at Cineteca.
  • Best Short Film’s Cineteca Madrid Audience Award, consisting of 2.500€ and the film premiere at Cineteca.

OTHER DOCUMENTAMADRID AWARDS

Movistar+ Award for Best Ibero-American Documentary Feature Film

The award winner will get broadcasting rights for the winning film in a time slot in the MOVISTAR+ group of television channels, as well as a trophy. MOVISTAR+ will be the one to choose the winner, based on artistic and production values. The conditions for purchase will be the channel's usual ones.

DOC-TAI Award

To an emerging filmmaking talent taking part in the National and Fugas and Short Film Competitions. The award winner will get a consulting program from prestigious professionals for all phases of development and production on the filmmakers next documentary project. The jury will be made up of students in this year's Masters in Creative Documentary and Experimental Filmmaking at the TAI Arts University Center.

LENS Award for Best Photography in the National Feature Film Competition

Assessment based on coherent and innovative visual narrative. To receive an award of € 1,000. The jury is to be made up of the participants in Doculens, a two-year documentary filmmaking experience at the LENS School of Visual Arts. 

The Best Cinematography Award, has been created by the festival in memory of cinematographer Jordi Abusada, who recently passed away. 

Screenly Award

For the premiere and on-demand theatrical distribution in Spain of a film participating in the National Feature Film Competition. The award-winner will get complete consulting service and guidance, in which the communication film distribution strategy will be defined jointly, as will the analysis and search for target audiences, and the optimal screening calendar with appropriate cinemas in the Screenly network. The jury will be made up of, among others, Marc Prades, Helena Fernández and Irene Visa from Screenly's usual work team.

The INSTITUTO DEL CINE MADRID Award

For Best Sound in the National Feature Film Competition awards 1,000€ to the winner in this category. The jury will be composed by 3 Members of the undergraduate faculty of the Cine Madrid Institute, that teach the “Sound for Cinema and TV degree”.

CORTE FINAL AWARD

This award is meant to provide aide to projects in their final phase of editing and post-production, with collaboration from major companies in the audiovisual sector.

  • Image Postproduction. To be granted by the post-production company Aracne Digital Cinema, worth € 10,000.

  • Sound postproduction. To be granted by the sound production and post-production company DRAX audio, worth € 7,000.

  • Distribution. To be granted by the platform for film festival submissions Festhome and the subtitling company 36caracteres.
