20 años de Documenta Madrid

Documenta Madrid is the Madrid City Council's International Film Festival. Since its creation in 2004, it has been an unmissable event for film industry professionals, the public and the media.

In 2011, Documenta Madrid settled in to the newly created Cineteca, in Matadero Madrid, which was started up as a cinema specializing in non-fiction cinema as well, with the idea of making it the festival's established venue.

Now in its twentieth edition and one of Spain's major non-fiction film festivals, Documenta Madrid continues to uphold its commitment to an open and pluralistic way of understanding the documentary genre by leading and promoting new models and filmmakers, allying itself with the drive to discover that is so characteristic of this film genre, and by rewarding innovation and good work.

Year after year, the festival's International and National competitions are a showcase for today's finest filmmaking and an important platform for boosting the careers of filmmakers from around the world. Since 2018, Documenta Madrid has also been one of the international festivals to qualify for the Oscar Awards.

This exhibition shows the posters created for each of the 20 editions of Documenta Madrid and the winners from each year.
