Sara Barquinero holds a PhD in Philosophy and is a writer. In 2018, she was awarded a creative grant at the Residencia de Estudiantes (Student Residencies) in Madrid, where she wrote her novel Terminal (Milenio, 2020). She received the Universal Values Essay Award from the Unir Foundation (2016), a Virginia Woolf Award for short narrative in English (2017), the IAJ Award for artistic and technological creation in literature (2018), the Voces Nuevas Award for poetry from Editorial Torremozas (2019) and in 2021, Woman magazine recognized Barquinero as an up-and-coming author in Spanish writing. Following her novel Estaré sola y sin fiesta (Lumen, 2021), she has recently published Los escorpiones (Lumen, 2024).
