Mara Polgovsky is a Mexican director, producer and editor of documentary films. She is also a Latin American art historian and curator, having taught at the University of Cambridge and Birkbeck College, University of London. Polgovsky earned a PhD from the University of Cambridge, studied script writing and worked as editor and director’s assistant on all of Eugenio Polgovsky’s films. As Eugenio’s sister and closest collaborator, she has taken over at Tecolote Films to distribute his work and complete his unfinished projects. In 2022, Mara and Eugenio’s film Malintzin 17 had its world premiere at the Tiger competition of IFFR. The film received the Ojo award for best feature documental at the Morelia International Film Festival was part of the official selection of numerous film festivals, including the International Competition of Documenta Madrid.
