Synopsis

Water in which fish drown. Reflection of a city turned upside down, where doors open up to the sea and drops fall from the ceiling. Exposed to the moon, bodies pay tribute to the goddess who protects and, at the same time, floods the island. (LGV)

Biography of the director

Everlane Morales
Everlane Moraes

Documentary filmmaker. Her shorts are an aesthetic hybrid of documentary and video art. She mixes philosophical concepts with the social issues of the black diaspora. She studied Documentary Film Directing at the EICTV School of Film and TV, Cuba and graduated with a Visual Arts Degree from the Universidad Federal de Sergipe, Brazil. She is currently a founder of La Hermandad Filmes, a creative group of artists that includes three film producers (Ojos Negros Filmes, Palenque Filmes and Estudio L). She is a member of the Association of Black Film Professionals (APAN), an entity that represents filmmakers, descendants of people, affiliates, foundations, institutions, companies and private companies in Brazil and across the world. She is a member of the Tela Prieta Film Collective, a group of filmmakers, journalists and historians working on issues of Afro-descendant culture in Brazil, based in the city of Salvador de Bahía, Brazil.
