With clear-sighted irony, this essay collage digs into the historical archive to re-visit the underlying values of Francoism through various representations of one of the early monuments to fascism in the Canary Islands. Postcards, television archive footage, tourist documentaries and images from No-Do newsreels get re-contextualized to reflect on popular folklore, fascist symbolism and national values. (RS)
