Jean-Gabriel Périot
Born in France in 1974. Jean-Gabriel Périot has directed several short films that lie on the borderlines between documentary, experimental film and fiction. He has developed his own style of editing, calling into question violence and history from photo and film archives.
His films, including Dies Irae, Eût-elle été criminelle…, Nijuman no borei (200000 fantômes) and The Devil have earned awards at many festivals throughout the world. His first feature film, Une jeunesse allemande, opened the Panorama section at the 2015 Berlinale before being released in theaters in Germany, Switzerland and France and winning numerous awards. Lumières d'été, his first fiction feature, premiered at the San Sebastian Festival and hit theaters in France in the summer of 2017.
