Awards

FEATURE LENGTH DOCUMENTARY SECTION

Films that run for longer than 45 minutes can compete in the following sections and for the following prizes:

INTERNATIONAL FEATURE FILM COMPETITION
International films that have not been released in Spain.

  • Jury Prize, consisting of €10,000 and a trophy.
  • Special Mention of the Jury (Diploma).

FUGAS FEATURE FILM COMPETITION
National and international films. This section is open to new aesthetic proposals, experimental and hybrid films, and works that challenge the audiovisual languages and genres.

  • Jury First Prize, consisting of €10,000 and a trophy.
  • Special Mention of the Jury (Diploma).

NATIONAL FEATURE FILM COMPETITION
Films produced or coproduced in Spain and works by Spanish directors.

  • Jury Prize, consisting of €10,000 and a trophy.
  • Special Mention of the Jury (Diploma).

 

SHORT FILM SECTION

Films that run for a maximum of 45 minutes which are not part of a series can compete for the following prizes:

INTERNATIONAL SHORT FILM COMPETITION
International films that have not been released in Spain.

  • Jury First Prize, consisting of €5,000 and a trophy.
  • Special Mention of the Jury (Diploma).

FUGAS SHORT FILM COMPETITION
National and international films. This section is open to new aesthetic proposals, experimental and hybrid films, and works that challenge the audiovisual languages and genres.

  • Jury First Prize, consisting of €5,000 and a trophy.
  • Special Mention of the Jury (Diploma).

NATIONAL SHORT FILM COMPETITION
Films produced or coproduced in Spain and works by Spanish directors.

  • Jury First Prize, consisting of €5,000 and a trophy.
  • Special Mention of the Jury (Diploma).

 

OTHER DOCUMENTAMADRID 2017 AWARDS

  • Cineteca Madrid Audience Award for the Best Feature Film and Best Short Film from any of the Competitive Sections. The award consists of screening the winning films at Cineteca Madrid and distributing them around other districts in the city.
  • Best Spanish Director Award, out of the films in the National Feature Film Competition section, given out by Aracne Digital Cinema. The award consists of provision of services worth €6,500 in order to produce the final copy, in DCP and other formats, of the director's next film.
  • Best Cinematography Award, out of the films in the National Feature Film Competition section, in memory of cinematographer Jordi Abusada, who recently passed away. The award features a trophy.
  • DOC-TAI Award for a Talented Emerging Filmmaker chosen from the films in the National Competition and the Fugas Short Film Competition sections. The award will consist of a series of consultations by prestigious, renowned professionals for all stages of development and production of the next documentary project by the winning filmmaker. The jury will consist of teachers and students on the current Master's Degree course in Creative Documentary and Experimental Film offered at the TAI.
  • Movistar+ Award for the Best Ibero-American Feature-Length Documentary. The award will consist of the acquisition of broadcasting rights over said film, with a view to its inclusion in the programming for the MOVISTAR+ family of channels, in addition to a trophy. MOVISTAR+ will select the winner on the basis of its artistic and production value. The television network's normal purchasing terms will apply.
