Throughout the first half of the 20th century, thousands of women left Galicia alone to go to America, many of them carrying papers that forged their age and identity. They were going into service. Women with no body, women under surveillance, women in silence who became “mucamas”, domestic servants. Women with ordinary stories who bond with each other, slowly revealing experiences and rekindling affections.
