In The I Mine we see paleoanthropologists excavating the fossils of our ancestors while miners dig in search of diamonds. Meanwhile, a historian’s diary reveals his personal search for what he considers the most precious diamond of all: the Me.
The I Mine is a poetic film wherein historic figures act as characters and vice versa; an experimental narration about the act of writing history.

Emilio Moreno (Ávila, 1980) is interested in the biographies of objects, gestures and words. In his practice he investigates different notions of value, as well as the areas of experience from which cultural values arise. Moreno graduated with a degree in English Philology before completing two Master’s Degrees, the first in Photography and the second in Fine Arts.
Most likely due to his studies into language and literature, Moreno’s work investigates, among other things, modes of narrative construction and the relationship between history and stories.
The I Mine debuted at the Rotterdam International Film Festival 2017 and was screened at the Las Palmas International Film Festival 2017. Recently, Moreno has undertaken projects shown at the Jan Van Eyck Academie, Maastricht, the De Appel Arts Centre, Amsterdam, the Galerija Miroslav Kraljevic, Zagreb, the South African National Gallery, Cape Town, Onomatopee/Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven and CASCO, Utrecht.
Emilio Moreno lives in Amsterdam, where he has been nominated for the Prix de Rome 2017, an award which is given out every two years to an artist under 40 years of age who works in the Netherlands. At present Moreno is preparing solo exhibitions that will be held in Amsterdam and in Celje, Slovenia.
