Director's Biography

Carlo Michele Schirinzi (1974, South Italy), is a filmmaker and artist. His film and videos have participated in exhibitions and in international film festivals devoted to the digital experimentation receiving awards and retrospectives. In 2003, Il nido received a Special Mention at the 21th Torino Film Festival and in 2004 All’erta! won the Shortvillage Award at the 40th Mostra Internazionale del Nuovo Cinema of Pesaro, which dedicated a retrospective to him in 2005. In 2007 the 3th Taranto Film Festival has included all his production in the Altri Sguardi section. In 2009 Notturno Stenopeico won the Best Italian Shortfilm at the 27th Torino Film Festival and Sonderbehandlung has won the 1th Prize to the 10th Festival del Cinema Europeo. In 2010, Mammaliturchi! received a Special Mention at the 28th Torino Film Festival. From 2005 to 2009 produced the documentary series Intramoenia Extrart, a contemporary art project in the castles of Puglia. Also in 2011 the short film Eco da luogo colpito is selected at the 68th Venice International Film Festival and in 2012 it won the Best Film and the Best Cinematography at the 7th Cinema Invisibile. In 2014, Natura morta in giallo received a Special Mention at 8th Cinema Invisibile. I resti di Bisanzio, his first feature film, has been selected at the 50th Mostra Internazionale del Nuovo Cinema of Pesaro, and the 12th DocLisboa, and won the First Prize at the 3th Salerno Doc Festival and won the Best Cinematography at the 10th Lecce Film Festival. I resti di Bisanzio has been considered one of the 2014 best films by the magazines Filmcritica and Alias-Il Manifesto. In 2015 Deposizione in due atti won the Best Film at the 40° Laceno d’Oro. Eclisse senza cielo has been considered one of the 2016 best films by the magazines Filmcritica and Alias-Il Manifesto.
