Director's Biography

Founder of Hibrida Films (www.hibridafilms.es), an audiovisual and film producing company, David Muñoz is a documentary and fictional film scriptwriter, director and producer whose work has won more than 100 awards and been shortlisted more than 500 times for international film festivals. He won the 2010 Goya for Best Spanish Short Documentary for Flowers of Rwanda, which also won the Hellenic Audience Award at the Thessaloniki International Film Festival. He won the Jury Prize for Best Documentary Short at the Al-Jazeera International Documentary Film Festival 2011 for The Infinite Jest. His documentary Another Night on Earth has won a series of awards, including the Silver Biznaga, Second Prize for Best Documentary at the 15th Malaga Film Festival, the FIPRESCI Critics' Award at DOK Leipzig, the NHK TV Japan Foundation President's Prize - NHK TV and the Prize for Best Full-length Documentary at the Guanajuato International Film Festival in Mexico. His fictional short film About Ndugu was first shown at an official competition at the 63rd Berlinale Internationale Filmfestspiele Berlin and won the Prize for Best Andalusian Short Film at the 12th Almería en Corto International Short Film Festival. His documentary short Hide & Seek debuted at the 65th Berlinale Internationale Filmfestspiele Berlin, and has also won the Silver Biznaga, the Special Jury Prize at Malaga Film Festival, the Caracola Alcances, Prize for Best Short Film at the Alcances Cádiz Documentary Film Festival, and the Special SGAE Award for Best Direction at SEFF – the Seville European Film Festival.
