El honor de las Injurias is the testimony of a personal obsession; it narrates the fervent search carried out by an old trigger-happy anarchist, Felipe Sandoval, alias ‘Doctor Muñiz’ (Madrid, 1886 -1939). ’
This person was born in the city’s suburban slums, he never knew who his father was, and he worked as a servant and bricklayer. The life of this shady figure is linked to his faith in a redemptive dream: the anarchist social revolution. To achieve his purpose he first became a famous bandit and ‘man of action’ and then, later, during the Civil War, he turned into his own ruthless judge and persecutor.
The researcher’s desire to follow Sandoval’s dark trail leads him to piece together the scraps of his memory that are scattered around in numerous register offices, archives and libraries. This material, added to a collection of old films, news programmes and photographs, is used to reconstruct and show the path of Felipe Sandoval’s life.
The venture turns into a terrifying and fascinating journey to one of the most painful areas of our recent past.
