During the Spanish Civil War, the bombings threaten the Prado Museum and the Republican Government decide to move the artwork to Valencia. In the rush, a self-portrait of Goya is lost in the rubble. Manuel, a guard of the art gallery, discovers the painting. Not only he will save it from destruction but, since that moment, he will be devoted to trying to keep the art piece safe even if that means putting in danger his life and those of his family members.
