In this section, we intend once again to show Madrid how healthy the industry of documentaries produced in our country is looking.
Our commitment to Spanish documentaries is clear and wholehearted, and therefore we wanted to reinforce it this year.
The Panorama of the Spanish Documentary section will be made up of 13 documentaries - all of which will be released in Madrid and many of them around Spain. The section also includes a small selection of 5 short documentaries.
Within the selection, there are films shot both in our country and abroad with very varied styles and themes.
They'll tell us little-known episodes of our recent history; we'll see unexpected characters full of strength and a permanent desire to better themselves, and others that are unusual and original, not to mention a little crazy; realities that are stranger than fiction, and others that are almost impossibly hard; realities that are close to us, or distant - in a word: Life.
As we mentioned above, we are reinforcing our commitment to Spanish documentaries and so there will be two showings of the films this year and they will be projected in the Sala Azcona and in the Plató - the new theatre with capacity for 150 spectators that we are inaugurating at this edition of DocumentaMadrid.
We will have practically all of the directors in attendance and they will present their films and have a discussion with the public afterwards.
