FESTIVAL // PRESENTATION
The 11th DocumentaMadrid, an international documentary film festival, promoted by Madrid City Council, will take place from 30 April to 11 May 2014.
After its shift of focus in 2013, DocumentaMadrid has become one of the most important documentary film festival in the world, with an official selection that gives priority to new releases in Spain.
DocumentaMadrid continues to be committed to promoting and disseminating non-fiction films that reflect the reality of society, culture, economy, art, environment and technology in the world. It also provides a way seeing an accurate depiction of the turbulent times we're living in, from different points of view.
The films are selected based exclusively on quality criteria. The selection offers a varied and multidisciplinary approach to the reality of our world and is the perfect complement to the films showing at CINETECA MADRID, the only cinema in Spain that shows documentary films exclusively. DocumentaMadrid is an annual meeting point for professionals, producers and the audience.
Our selection includes films by internationally acclaimed and award-winning directors, as well as new directors; traditional ways of narrating and innovative ways of using the language and describing reality; direct and unique testimonies of our most recent history, and poetic and subjective views of people's experiences. All this will be part of our programme in order to offer an accurate and condensed overview of the present.
As well as the Official Competitive Selection, which will include feature and short film categories, DocumentaMadrid will include once again the Spanish Documentary selection, with documentaries that are made in Spain. This genre in Spain is gradually producing a wider variety of films and using different approaches to the themes they are dealing with.
