Souvenir is a short film on tourism. It is a film that reflects on how we enjoy our free time but it is also a look through history at the ways and manners of being a tourist today and yesterday. It is about routines.
Souvenir comes from images my father recorded with Super 8 film, most of them from before I was born. By uniting his images (of yesteryear) with mine (of modern day), we establish not only a generational dialogue but also a reflection on the passage of time and the changes associated with it.
The actual short, inasmuch as it is the object that holds my father's memories, becomes a souvenir in itself - of places, people and my father's passion for film. It is dedicated to him.

Director's Biography

He holds a degree in Film and Video from Columbia College, Chicago. While there, he collaborated with the Chicago Film Office and the Chicago Latin-American Film Festival. In 1997, he took charge of the Canaries Film Commission, dependent on the Canaries Government, to assist and promote filming of audiovisual products in the Islands.
In 2005, he ended his era in public administration and began his work as a producer. Since 2010, through the company Muak Canarias, he has co-produced and produced short films, feature-length films and other products.
He is currently working on the production of Sergio Candel's feature film Señora Bracket, Bruno Lázaro's Eriká's Eyes and Carnaval by William Nuñez. He is associate producer for the documentary Plaza España (2012), by Víctor Moreno, and is working on the Perro Rojo feature films, in co-production with Zentropa Spain, Viento by Bruno Lázaro, and La Cosa en la Niebla.
Souvenir is his debut as a director.
