Juma dreams of leaving his Kenyan slum for a better life abroad. His pregnant girlfriend has moved overseas for work, leaving him to find his own way. Juma sets his sights on a middle-aged tourist named Lynn, who shows him a glimpse of the high life in exchange for his “companionship.” With up close and personal access, Beach Boy explores the burgeoning sex tourism industry.

Director's Biography

Emil Langballe (b. 1982) is an independent Danish filmmaker based in Copenhagen. He is an alumni of the Berlinale Talent Campus and graduated from the British National Film and Television School in 2013 with the film ‘Beach Boy’ which has won awards in Karlovy Vary, Tampere and Thessaloniki.
