Casa de América de Madrid presents, as part of the Festival, the selection The Mexican Documentary Cinema: Carte Blanche to Elena Fortes.
The cycle will consist of five films from the recent mexican non-fiction cinema productions, selected by Elena Fortes, Director of the Ambulante Festival, who shall introduce the films herself.
From May 10th through to May 24th, coinciding with DOCUMENTA MADRID, Casa Árabe will be presenting a series of documentaries which take a closer look at the reality of the Middle East from a political, economic, social and environmental perspective.
Specifically within the framework of the festival, Casa Arabe is presenting Valentino’s Ghost, an observant look at the role played by the media in the global perception of the Arab world within the international relations' arena.
In addittion, Casa Árabe will hold a second documentary cinema special session which will screen the BBC series Wild Arabia, by Dan Rees and Chadden Hunter, producer of the famous Frozen Planet series, although due to schedulling constrictions it will take place outside the festival dates. It is an in-depth, spectacular look at the Arabian peninsula, where tremendous social and cultural changes have taken place, from the ancient city of Mecca to the ultra-modern capital cities on the Arab Gulf.
