Basilio Martin Patino
106' / 1973 / Spain
After suffering the censorship of his film Canciones para después de una guerra, Basilio Martín Patino felt the unstoppable desire of disclosing the dark side of the dictatorship and decided to film the revelations of the three state executioners who still carried on their profession in the early 1970s. The film was premiered after Franco’s death in 1977, and was read as the introduction of a reality which had been kept away from the Spanish society, as well as a direct attack against the disinformation and the rest of the repressive mechanisms used during the dictatorship (including the death penalty).
