encounter:1. n. The act of meeting at a single place by two or more things, usually with a confrontation between them. / 2. n. The act of meeting up (Two or more people unexpectedly). / 3. n. Opposition, contradiction. / 5. n. Interview between two or more people for the purpose of resolving or preparing some issue. In more ways than one, Matadero Encounters honors several of the meanings of the word in the dictionary: in them, you can find meetings, dialogue, confrontation, recognition and poetry. The regular Documenta Madrid public knows what we mean, because they don’t often miss the event, organized by the festival every year for the directors, moviegoers, media and film professionals. For those attending Documenta for the first time, we suggest the best way we can think of for learning about what this event is all about: come and participate.
