A man takes a long walk in order to wind the old clock up in a remote steeple. Another man takes a walk from his village to a small coastal town - he is the guard in a bankrupt company. The third goes to an abandoned village, to make a fire on amidst the scattered remnants of former houses. Without a single word uttered, the film tells of how time that stopped, the solitude, the sense of human efforts and man's place on Earth.
